About Deborah Montana

Deborah Montana Hi, I'm Deborah Montana, an artist working in acrylics, mixed media and photography. My paintings and photographs express the passion I feel for my Beloved Bridegroom Jesus and the places He opens my heart to visit during times of soaking, prayer and reading the Word. I love the Secret Place of Prayer where I can be alone with my Beloved. I prefer to paint outdoors if the weather is nice. Inside I am often paint to music by Pastor Markus Davidson, Laura Woodley Osmon and Heather Clark's Dark Yet Lovely. I also enjoy to creating digital art. It's so forgiving and I often don't know where I am going to end up. I like that! My rescued dog Dixie Belle is a steady companion no matter how late I stay up. Her photograph is the "cover shot" for one of the galleries. She's the red head with the dewy eyes!

Recently I was commissioned to paint my first Katubah, an ancient Jewish betrothal document that has it's place in modern Jewish wedding customs. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed every moment bringing the bridegroom's desires to life so he could present it to his Beloved on their special day. I would be delighted to paint something for your Beloved.

Though I am new to the Hebraic language, I now find that adding the Hebrew alphabet, numbers and symbols to my work is spiritually and artistically enlightening. I try to paint along with the Holy Spirit so that each painting is a new adventure with the God I love. My paintings are bathed in prayer and sometimes tears. Holy Spirit takes me beyond my natural talents and surprises me with joy. How I love my Beloved Yeshua. When I paint I can feel Him leading me like a Bridegroom dancing with his Bride at a wedding supper....hmmmm

The photographs you see often feature Montana Crosses, made by my husband James, who is a cancer survivor. Out of the furnace forged by this tribulation, we found a deeper love for the lover of their souls and Montana Crosses came to life. The crosses are made of recycled carbon steel, stainless steel, silicon bronze, and found objects. The recycled metals yield a surprising array of colors and textures as the fire pulls the impurities to the surface, making no two crosses alike. Some of them are quite colorful while others are heavily etched in the fire.

This process is an allegory of our journey with Christ. In the Refiner’s Fire, we are transformed into the image of Christ as He takes us from glory to glory. As we walk through the fire of the Holy Spirit, our impurities rise to the surface and God makes something beautiful out of our imperfections. Our trials on earth etch His signature upon our lives, just as surely as our names were etched in the palms of His hands on the cross for all eternity.

We belong to Him and He belongs to us.

While it is a sobering endeavor to make a cross, where sin and sorrow meet, it is also a place where all
mankind can rejoice and find hope. When we embrace the cross, we find the love of our lives in a relationship
with Jesus Christ our Savior, Friend, Bridegroom and King.

I, pray over each handmade piece before it leaves our studio located near Tyler, in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Together we seek the Lord for designs and the Biblical interpretations of each piece. James follows the Holy Spirit and brings the passion of the cross to life one cross at a time. None his work is machine pressed, or can ever be exactly duplicated due to the firing process. Sculptured Montana Crosses are as unique as your fingerprint. We like to listen to your heart, pray, and then let the cross take shape.

The photographs of the crosses, Heavenly Visions and the animals we have rescued and loved are the subjects of gift cards, fine prints and paintings. I'm also available for hire if you want a special photo of you fur child!

My you be blessed by the works of our hands as done unto Him.
